Renters with Disabilities

hand control: left-hand control left - available at no additional charges. Must call the location at least 3 days in advance to request. Right-hand control right - available at no additional charges must call the location at least 3 days in advance to request. Adaptive Driving Devices : Routes is committed to providing a range of Adaptive Driving Devices for our customers with disabilities, such devices are available at no additional charge. While Routes will use good faith efforts to satisfy requests for vehicles with Adaptive Driving Devices as soon as reasonably practical, we require three (3) business days advance notice for vehicles equipped with Adaptive Driving Devices. The provided hand controls are limited to certain vehicles within our fleet, due to customer safety concerns and vehicle availability considerations, we cannot provide adaptive driving devices on every model or confirm a particular make or model for a reservation.Customer Service : For customer service inquiries relating to customers with disabilities, please email us at specialrequest@routes.ca To Make A Reservation : For more information or to make a reservation; please email us at specialrequest@routes.ca Travel to Canada and Mexico is not allowed.

CANCELLATION

Customers who fail to cancel their reservation: Customers who fail to cancel their reservation from the source it was booked at least 24 hours prior to pick-up time, fail to show up for their reservation, or do not qualify for the rental will be subject to a one-day rental charge or a $75.00 USD admin fee, whichever is higher. Duplicate reservations that are not cancelled from the source it was booked or picked up will also be subject to the $75.00 USD admin fee. Please note we hold reservations up to 2 hours from the reserved pick-up time subject to published business hours. Cancellations must be made through the original booking source. Prepaid: if you have reserved a pay now rental your credit card will be charged in full at the time of reservation. Your booking will be guaranteed for pickup. The credit card used for prepayment must be presented at the rental counter at the time of pick up (debit cards are not acceptable) prepaid reservations are non-changeable, non-cancelable, and non-refundable for prepaid reservations, vehicles are held until the end of the same business day.

Rental Instructions

Rental extensions: customers wishing to extend their rental must either make a new reservation from the source of the original booking or by getting approval from the rental location where the vehicle was originally rented. While marijuana is a legal substance in several US states, the use of this product while operating a vehicle is strictly prohibited and will void any coverages included with your rental, whether purchased from us or through a 3rd party. Any marijuana or drug use detected in the rented vehicle or found in an unsealed container when the vehicle is returned will be subject to a $250.00 USD cleaning fee. In addition, the renter will not be permitted to rent from routes car rental in the future. Prepaid tolls are available at the rental counter, at a cost not to exceed $13.99 USD per day (amount depends on the renting location) for unlimited usage. Customers are responsible for paying all tolls incurred while using the vehicle if the prepaid option is not purchased at the time of rental. You are responsible for paying all parking, traffic violations, and unpaid tolls incurred while using the vehicle. If you incur a violation during the rental, our agent will process and bill you for fines associated with those violations. In addition to any violation or unpaid tolls, you will be charged an admin fee of up to $75.00 USD. These items will be billed directly to the credit card used for the rental transaction. All fees are taxable. We use reasonable commercial efforts to ensure the accuracy of all information posted on our website or distributed to other websites. Our liability, if any, shall be limited to the amount of rental charges paid to us. The terms and conditions and prevailing law covering the rental shall be those stated on the rental contract presented at the rental location. A rental day consists of a 24-hour period commencing with date and time indicated on the rental contract. Changes to the reservation or the rental may result in a change of rate or an additional fee. There are no refunds for early returns. Multiple or duplicate reservations must be made in different names or those reservations may not be honored and are subject to an admin fee. Vehicle makes and models are examples only and are not guaranteed. If you have reserved a pay-on-arrival rental, a credit card guarantee is required in order to reserve a vehicle. If you have reserved a prepaid pay-now rental, your credit card will be charged in full at the time of reservation. Your booking will be guaranteed for pickup. The credit card used for prepayment must be presented at the rental counter at the time of pickup. If you do not pick up your rental when scheduled, your reservation will be canceled, and you will not receive a refund or credit. Prepaid rates are subject to availability. Not included in your rate is fuel, underage driver fee, additional driver fee, special equipment, as well as supplemental liability insurance or any other available option. You will be responsible for any deductible or excess of included collision or theft waivers in case of damage or loss.

Insurance

Collision Damage Waiver eliminates the renter or any authorized drivers of financial responsibility over and above the deductible for the rental vehicle in case of an accident, as long as the terms and conditions of the rental agreement are met and not violated. If terms of the rental agreement are violated, the renter or authorized driver is responsible for up to the fair market value of the vehicle, for any damage or loss of the rental vehicle regardless of fault and for loss of use, administrative fees, and diminished value of the vehicle. Third parties and unauthorized drivers are not covered by CDW. The driver must obtain an accident report from police, or CDW will be voided. Comprehensive losses such as fire, vandalism, flood, hail, or acts of god are not covered under CDW coverage. Off-road and negligent driving is a violation of the rental agreement. Underage drivers must present proof of their own transferable auto insurance policy from a north American insurance provider in order to rent. Please check with your insurance company for state coverage requirements. Collision Damage Waiver: customers who do not purchase our CDW must present proof of their own transferable auto insurance from a north American insurance provider, which should include the name and address of the insurer and the policy number. This rule applies to all insurance policies, including collision coverages purchased from online booking sources. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) can be purchased at a price not to exceed $39.99 per day (amount depends on the renting location) and limits renter's responsibility to $3,000.00 for economy, compact, intermediate, standard, and full-size vehicles. The financial responsibility on mid-size and standard SUV’s (5-seater) is $3,500, and the financial responsibility on full-size SUV’s and minivans is $4,000(some locations reserve the right not to sell CDW for certain vehicles). In all cases, limited financial responsibility is contingent on the fact that the terms of the rental agreement are not violated. Additional CDW options may be available at the time of rental; customers should check with the rental agent. The Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) for commercial rentals can be purchased at a price not to exceed $39.99 per day with a $4,000.00 deductible. If declining CDW, renter must present proof of coverage which includes the dollar amount covered. When using credit card coverage or online-purchased insurance, proof must include name, address, and policy number of insurer. Renter is responsible for any third-party claims. Supplemental liability insurance (SLI) is optional and is a secondary insurance product that increases liability limits up to $1 million USD, from the minimum statutory liability limits already included in the rental rate. SLI can be purchased at a cost not to exceed $13.99 USD per day (amount depends on the renting location). Routes car rental maintains the right to refuse to rent if these requirements are not met. Refusal is at the discretion of the counter agent/location manager.

General

Child seat/infant (0-12 months / 0-13 kg) infant seat child seats and child seat/toddler (4-7 years / 15-30 kg) toddler seat will be available upon request for a cost not to exceed $25.99 USD per day (amount depends on the renting location). Navigation system GPS is available for a cost not to exceed $19.99 USD per day (amount depends on the renting location). All optional equipment is available upon request and subject to availability. All fees are taxable. Vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel as rented or higher. A $50.00 USD service charge plus fuel cost will apply if not returned at the same level. There is no credit for unused fuel.All vehicles are smoke and pet hair free. If a vehicle is returned with a smoke odor, pet hair or any residue a cleaning charge up to $250.00 USD will be charged.There are no refunds or credit for early returns.

Local

Attention local renters please be sure to read the below statement, Please note that our locations at Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), Atlanta (ATL), and Orlando (MCO)) do not rent to local renters. All customers must have a valid return airline itinerary in order to rent. Routes locations at Chicago (ORD), Denver (DEN), and Atlanta (ATL) and Orlando (MCO) do not rent to local renters under any circumstance. All renters who cannot present proof of a round-trip airline ticket that includes the rental period are considered local renters. All other US locations do rent to local renters with the following restrictions. Local renters do not qualify for unlimited mileage. Mileage is restricted to 200 miles per day, 1400 miles per week, up to a maximum of 2,500 miles per rental. For local renters, the minimum hold of $2,000.00 USD is required on his or her credit card. Any excess miles will be charged at $0.25 USD per mile. Local renters may only rent economy, compact, intermediate, standard, full-sized cars. Some locations do not rent pickup trucks to local customers. Please call to confirm before booking. Renter must present proof of their own transferable auto insurance policy from a North American insurance provider, which should include the name and address of the insurer and the policy number.

Drivers

Additional drivers must meet all requirements of the primary driver, and fees will be applied up to $29.99 USD per day (amount depends on the location). Any changes to the rental agreement must be made and signed for at the rental counter. All drivers and additional drivers must have a valid drivers license in their own name. No learner permits or photocopies of driving licenses are accepted. You must have an original drivers license while renting a vehicle. Drivers must be at least 21 years of age and present a valid photo driver's license from the state or country in which they reside at the time of rental. Non-U.S. citizens who present a foreign driver’s license at the time of the rental will be required to present their passport as a second form of identification. If the national driver’s license is printed with non-roman alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.), it must be complemented by an international driving permit (IDP). Driver's licenses that are in English are only accepted from the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the European union. National driver's licenses from the European union that are not in English, as well as countries outside the European union, must be accompanied by an international driver’s permit. International driving permits are only valid outside the country of origin when presented with the original national driver’s license. National driver's licenses must be valid at least 6 months out from the date of rental in order to be used to rent the vehicle. Additional drivers must meet the same qualifications as the primary driver. The additional driver and underage driver fees (21-24 yrs. old) will be applied per day. All fees are taxable. For international renters, we need a valid email address, two valid phone numbers. No learner permits or photocopies of driver's licenses are accepted. You must have an original driver's license when renting a vehicle.

Payments

Cash, prepaid credit cards, debit cards with or without a master card or visa logo are not accepted for rental qualification. Routes locations do not accept payments in cash or by check. A confirmation does not mean you can use your debit card for rental. Most locations accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. To find out if the credit card you wish to use at the time of rental is accepted at the location you will be renting from, please call the respective location. Renter must present a valid credit card in his or her own name at the time of the rental. A minimum deposit of between $500 USD to $2,000 USD, or the estimated total of the rental plus 30 percent - whichever is greater - must be available on the credit card in order to rent the vehicle. All rental fees, taxes, and charges associated with the rental are due at the time of pick-up.

Renter

The minimum age of the renter or any additional driver is 21 years,with this exception - U.S government renters on official business, the minimum age to rent is 18. All renters must present a physical valid driver's license and major credit card in his or her own name. This must be the same credit card that was used to book or pay for the reservation. An underage fee will be applied to individuals between the ages of 21 and 24, up to a maximum of $29.99 USD per day. For domestic and international renters, we require two government-issued valid photo ids, two phone numbers, and a valid email address.

GEOGRAPHIC

Mileage: Unlimited mileage is offered only within the state where the vehicle is rented. Vehicles are not allowed to leave the state of the renting location without written permission otherwise, an out-of-state/Province fee will be applied up to $19.99 USD/per day (amount depends on the renting location). Vehicles that travel out-of-state/Province without approval from the renting location, out of state fee will be applied up to $29.99 USD/per day (amount depends on the renting location) for the whole rental period. Please check with the agent at the time of pickup. If traveling outside the state of the rental location, mileage is capped at 200 miles per day, 1400 miles per week, and 2500 miles per rental. Additional miles will be charged at $0.20 USD per mile. Unlimited mileage is not available to local renters. Local renters do not qualify for unlimited mileage. Mileage is restricted to 200 miles per day, 1400 miles per week, up to a maximum of 2,500 miles per rental. For local renters, the minimum hold of $2,000.00 USD is required on his or her credit card. Any excess miles will be charged at $0.25 USD per mile. Local renters may only rent economy, compact, intermediate, standard, full-sized cars. Some locations do not rent pickup trucks to local customers. Please call to confirm before booking.There is no free mileage on Commercial Trucks and Vans, $0.20 per km will be charged.
